Fundraiser for Ukraine: The open singles competition on this Wednesday will be a fundraiser in aid of Ukraine. Entry fee will be €10 for members and €25 for vistors with half the entry fee going to the fundraiser. We are hopeful for a good turnout to help in some small way towards the plight of these great people who had to flee their country due to the horrible war now ravaging their beautiful country.
Holmpatrick Cup: The qualifier for the Holmpatrick Cup will take place this weekend Saturday and Sunday 2nd and 3rd April. This is also a fundraiser for the National Council of the Blind in Ireland. It is a fourball competition with the winning pair going forward to the Munster final in Adare in August. The All-Ireland final takes place in Athlone in September.
Winter League: The Winter League 2021-2022 final took place on Saturday with Robbie Foley's team victorious over Michael Hegarty's squad in a tight struggle. In the morning Robbie won two of the three fourballs while in the afternoon singles he won three with the final match called in. Club captain Liam Hogan presented the winning team with the Joe Dervan Trophy on Saturday evening. Robbie Foley's winning team was Robbie Foley, Eoin O'Gara, Liam O'Gara, Matthew O'Gara Jnr, Eoin Fitzgibbon, Ray Deering, Ray Hurley and Brendan Delaney. The runners-ups team was: Michael Hegarty, Paul Comer, Paul Ferris, Sean McLoughlin, Sean Quinn, Roger Coffey, Gerry Robinson, Kieran Burke. Thanks to Tom Doheny and Jim Flynn for their expertise and patience with teams in the smooth running of the competition this year.
Club Singles (O'Keefe Cup): The qualifier for the club singles took place recently and the draw was made and is posted in the locker room. The first round to be played by April 19th. Jimmy Bruen: If you wish to represent the club in the Jimmy Bruen please put your name and mobile number on the sheet in the locker room. To be eligible to play you cannot be below 3.5 from 1st January 2021 to 1st January 2022. The selectors are Ray Hurley and Liam O'Gara. Nenagh's first match will be against Castletroy on May 29th.
Pierce Purcell: Toddy Hogan and Jim Gleeson are the selectors for the Pierce Purcell this year. Put your name and mobile number on the sheet in the men's lockeroom if you wish to be considered for selection on a panel. The handicap limit is 10.5 and upwards. You must be over 18 years of age. The first match will be against Ballyneety on May 15th.
Duggan Cup: The Duggan Cup is a fourball foursomes competition for men 50 years and older. If you are interested in representing the club in this competition please put your name on the sheet in the lockeroom. Sean McLoughlin and Bernard Delahunty are the selectors.
Fred Perry Cup: If you wish to represent the club in the Fred Perry Cup please put your name and mobile number on the sheet in the locker room. Handicap limit is 28 and below. This is a fourball competition confined to players over the age of 55 on 1st January 2022. The selectors are Michael Hegarty and Eamon Callanan. Nenagh's first match will be against Castletroy on May 8th.
50/50 Members' Draw: The fortnightly 50/50 Members' Draw in aid of the club development fund is ongoing. In the draw held on Saturday 19th March when Maura Leenane won €95 with the total pot at €190. To enter simply put €5 in the envelope supplied and place it in draw box outside the pro shop. The winner will receive 50% of the pot. The prize grows with every ticket sold. Please support. The next draw will take place on this Saturday April 2nd. Thanks to everybody who supported this club fundraiser.
