Michael Gavin win president's prize like no other

President's Prize (Eamon Callanan): The President prize like no other. Over 360 members played for Eamon's prize over three days on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. After 18 holes Eoin Fitzgibbon and Brian Commins both had 68, Thomas Slattery, Michael Corrigan and Denis Kelly carded 69s, Michael Gavin was on 70 while there were 71 from Eamon O'Brien, Collwyn Martin, Seamus Power, Dick Tierney, Henry Sheehan, Benny Dunne, Tom Quinlisk and Mel Gleeson. Roger Coffey, Gerry Ryan and David Lewis scored 72. In the 9 hole play off on Sunday evening in very windy conditions Michael Gavin proved to be the master of the elements when he beat Denis Kelly by half a shot. Michael is a very popular winner and he received his beautiful prize outside the clubhouse in front of a crowd of about 80 members. Very unseasonable July weather and Covid-19 didn't dampen what proved to be a great weekend for Eamon and the club.

Hole-in-One: Well done to Jim Gleeson who had a hole-in-one at the 8th hole playing in the president's prize on Friday last.

Young Dermot McTiernan was the first winner of the post-Covid competitions with an excellent 43 pts followed by John Coonan and our president Eamon Callanan both on 41 pts. Over 150 cards were returned.
