The Club Classic Scramble, held at the weekend in excellent weather, was a great success with 81 teams competing. At the presentation of prizes on Sunday evening captain Liam Hogan thanked the main sponsors Eanna Jones (PGA professional), Slattery's Garage (main Peugeot and Subaru dealers), Breo Jewellers, Nineteen Bar and Bistro, Ishka, John Hanly, Fiserv, United Metals, all the team sponsors, tee box sponsors and members for making the event a financial success.

Hole-in-one: Well done to Eamon Byrne who had a hole-in-one, at the 8th, playing the Bank Holiday Monday open singles on 1st August.

Liam Hogan's Captain's Prize: Captain's Prize: Liam's Captain's Prize qualifier is on this Saturday, Sunday and Monday 13, 14 and 15 August. The play off will take place on Sunday August 21. The top 70 plus ties will qualify for the playoff. The timesheet opened on Monday last. The draw for partners will take place on Thursday. The order of prizes will be: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, gross, 4th, 5th, 6th, senior, student, 1st 18, 2nd 18 (1, 2, 3), past captain, Denis O'Sullivan prize will be presented to the best senior who doesnt receive another prize. Liam joined the club 48 years age and has served on various committees for a number of years. As captain he has led the club through a very difficult post-Covid 19 era and is the driving force, with his committee, behind ongoing development at the club for the betterment of all members. He has particpated in, and supported, inter-club matches over many years. All the members wish Liam and his family well over the next two weekends and hope we get good weather and great golf.

Tuesday Mixed is back: - 12 hole mixed - commenced on Tuesday 9th August and will continue every Tuesday until further notice. 5 p.m. – 6.28 p.m. Book through the BRS system. Semi-open – members can play with a guest; Scotch mixed foursome – both tee off – better ball chosen – and alternate strokes are then played to complete the hole. Collect your card from the Pro Shop - €5.00 each. Play off your course handicap. Please pre-book in the restaurant if you are having food. Looking forward to seeing you all.
Pierce Purcell: Our Pierce Purcell Shield squad were defeated by Woodstock, with all matches away, in the Munster West semi-final on Sunday afternoon. This was a tough ask for the team and they went down by 4-1. The team was David Hickey and Donal Keogh; Matthew O'Gara and Dom O'Brien; Paul Moloney and Paul Comer; Liam Gleeson and Dave McGrath; Mel Gleeson and John Slattery. The selectors were Jim Gleeson and Pat Hogan.

Fred Perry: The Fred Perry Cup team had a very hard fought battle with Killarney in the Munster West final at Ballyneety on Saturday last. Nenagh eventually won 3-2 with two of the matches going to the 18th and the deciding match finishing on the 20th green. The team was: Billy Burke and Jim Gleeson; Dinny Ryan and Pat Hogan; Paul Moloney and Garry Howard; Billy Morgan and Willie Harty; Sean Minogue and George Hayes. Their selectors are Michael Hegarty and Eamon Callanan. Their next outing will be against the Ulster champions in the All-Ireland quarter-final in Loughrea on Saturday 3rd September.

Moore Cup: Our Moore Cup team won their quarter-final match against Longford on Sunday. Playing in Nenagh were Billy Morgan, Willie Harty and Jimmy Ryan. In Longford were Garry Howard, Dinny Ryan, Phil Reddan and Eugene Fitzpatrick. The selectors are Pat Foley and John Hackett.

Club Singles (O'Keefe Cup): The club singles is down to the last three players. Ger McKenna v Aidan Ryan; Tom Coffey is in the final.

Club Fourball: The draw for the club fourball has been made and his posted in the locker room. The deadline for the second round was 13th July so get your outstanding matches played.

Special 50/50 Members' Draw: The fortnightly 50/50 Members' Draw in aid of the club development fund is ongoing. In the draw held on Saturday 6th August Pat O'Connor won €130 with the total pot at €260. To enter simply put €5 in the envelope supplied and place it in draw box outside the pro shop. Please support. The next draw will take place on this Saturday 20th August.
