Sunday August 16: Open Singles.

Satuday and Sunday August 22 and 23: M. J. Walshe Trophy GOY.

Saturday and Sunday August 29 and 30: Open Singles.

Captain's Prize: This weekend we have the qualifying round for the Jim Flynn's Captain's Prize . You may qualify on Saturday (7.00am-4.00pm), Sunday (7.00am-3.00pm) or Monday (9.00am-4.30pm) August 8, 9 and 10. The top 90 and ties will go through to the playoff on Saturday August 15. This is a Golfer of the Year event. The shine could have been taken off Jim's captaincy by Covid 19 but he has led the club superbly through the lockdown and on to the startup, with excellent assistance from committee members, the ground staff, the office staff and an army of volunteers, to where we are now with things nearly normal. Jim was a hardworking competitions secretary and men's treasurer, along with managing various club teams, before assuming the captaincy. The big entry is expected for this most important major of the year to honour a popular captain. We all hope the weather obliges and we have two weekend's of big crowds playing excellent golf with Jim and his family enjoying themselves at the club.

Juniors: Jim Flynn's Junior Captain's Prize will take place on Saturday August 8. Any juniors interested in playing can meet on the practice putting green at 3.45 pm. The cost of entry is €3. Best of luck to all juniors.

50/50 Members' Draw: The fortnightly 50/50 Members' Draw in aid of the club development fund continues. Simply put €5 in the envelope supplied and place it in draw box in the Pro Shop. The winner will receive 50% of the pot. The draw will take place every second Friday. The prize grows with every ticket sold. Please support. The second draw took place on Friday July 31 with the popular winner of €460 being Ger Carroll. The third draw will take place on Friday August 14.

Club singles: The club singles matchplay competition (O'Keeffe Cup) had resumed. The draw for which is posted on the noticeboard in the men's locker room. There are a few second round matches to be played. The deadline for third round matches is Sunday August 23. Both players to arrange match. Both players to arrange.

Pierce Purcell: Nenagh won their first match away to Limerick by 3 matches to 2 in the North Munster zone of the Pierce Purcell Shield on Wednesday July 29. The matches was played in fourball format. The home pairs, who both won, were Toddy Hogan and Tony Hogan with Hugh O'Brien and Tom Slattery. The three away pairs were David Hickey and Dave McGrath, Pakie Ryan and Richard Moloney along with Denis Corrigan and Jerry Ryan. Their next match is against Adare Resort or Charleville. The selectors are Brendan Kennedy and Bernard Delahunty.

Junior Cup: Our first match was at home to East Clare. Nenagh won 3.5 to 1.5. The home players were Conor O'Dwyer, Jake Adler and Michael Corrigan while Brian Freeman and Denis Corrigan played away. Their second round match is at home to Adare Resort. The selectors are David Jones and Shane Hogan.

Jimmy Bruen: Nenagh's first match is on soon. The selectors are Collwyn Martin and Brian Freeman.

Junior Golf: Cronan Casey is delighted to announce that we can at last continue with golf lessons this year. Due to time constraints we are holding an intensive week of lessons from Monday-Friday August 3-7. Each group will receive an hour's lesson each morning with our club professional Éanna Jones. There will be a mixture of on-course, putting green and driving range lessons. This course is limited to members and only a maximum of 40 can attend. The cost of the course is €30.
